Notts County bring an unbeaten away league record to the Ricoh Arena this Saturday for what is a relatively rare meeting with Coventry City, the first in the league since April 1992.
Keith Curle’s Magpies have won three and drawn three on the road so far this season, culminating in an impressive 4-0 success at Carlisle on Saturday to make it 13 successive away games without defeat.
‘I’ve got faith, belief and a system of play that the players have bought into,’ said Curle after the Carlisle game, speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham.
‘I am about building for the future.’
That future, in the short-term at least, may include Finnish striker Mikael Forssell, a free agent after leaving Leeds in the summer and in talks with County over a deal.
For the Sky Blues the game poses another tough test of their improved form under Mark Robins after last weekend’s stern examination at Swindon, one which City just about passed despite losing a two-goal lead.
A blank week (Notts are in JPT action against Sheffield United on Wednesday night with the winners coming to the Ricoh in the next round) will have given Robins more precious time to work with his charges as he looks to continue City’s slow climb up the League One table.
On-loan Forest striker David McGoldrick will be hoping to put one over on the other Nottingham side and told the Coventry Telegraph: ‘They are one of the better teams in this league but we`re back at the Ricoh and we have to play our football.
‘We`re in good form as well so let them worry about us.’
