Coventry City shrugged off the woes of the summer with a determined display to see off Ipswich at the Ricoh Arena on Sunday.

Displaying a better balance to their side than last season, especially in midfield where new signing Sammy Clingan impressed, Chris Coleman’s men got off to a flier with two Clinton Morrison goals in the first half.

The obligatory quick reply from the visitors meant it was game on but despite some nervy moments, City kept their shape and their composure on the ball.

‘We won’t come up against a stronger side and we were flustered at set-plays but we got through it and no one went missing in my side,’ said Coleman afterwards.
