Andy Morrell could be on his way to Walsall on loan according to reports today.
The popular striker has had a frustrating campaign at the Ricoh Arena, being used mainly as a substitute by manager Micky Adams, almost always in a position on the right-hand side of midfield.
With his contract up at the end of the season it is hard to see him being offered a new deal.
Morrell joined City in the summer from 2003 after a prolific season with Wrexham.
He adapted well to life in a higher division initially, but injuries and the form of other strikers at the club have made it hard for him to get regular first-team starts.
Adams, although he dropped Morrell to the bench for Saturday’s game against Sheffield United, praised his contribution in the previous two games, saying: ‘I think Andy Morrell has done fantastically well on the right hand side so we may well see the return of Gary (McSheffrey) at the expense of someone who has done a fantastic job in the last two games.’
