Season ticket sales hold up despite City going down! That is the encouraging news to come out of CCFC in the past few days as the club’s hardcore fans (2,342 at the end of last week) renew their cards for next season.

It’s a massive show of faith given relegation and the continuing uncertainty over the Ricoh Arena, the club’s ownership and its very future and one that may provide a financial lifeline as the Sky Blues must now budget for (at least) a season in League One.

Vital Coventry commented earlier today on the lack of local derbies City will have next season while the absence of any of the heavyweight clubs who have spent time in League One recently (Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United being the most recent examples) means a sharp drop in the income gained from away supporters.

A poor start to the season could see attendances dropping to the 10,000 and vast, empty swathes across the stadium while a home tie in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy 1st Round may see us all huddled together in one block!
