The importance of Coventry City making a good start to the League One season and maintaining a promotion push in order to keep crowds to a decent level is highlighted by the lack of big games and/or local derbies they will face next year.

Attendances have been helped in recent seasons by big away followings from the likes of Leeds and West Ham as well as attractive home fixtures against Leicester, Wolves, Birmingham and West Brom.

With Sheffield Wednesday exiting League One for the Championship it leaves very few sides likely to bring a large away support while local derby fare will be restricted to Walsall’s visit to the Ricoh Arena.
