Bookmakers make Sheffield United the clear favourites to win League One next season after their heartbreaking play-off final defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town.

Along with city rivals Wednesday and Charlton Athletic, the Blades were a cut above anyone else in the division in the 2011/12 regular season and will surely mount a strong challenge to go up automatically next season.

They are rated a best-priced 6/1 at this early stage.

Coventry City are rated a best-priced 12/1, strongly fancied to be in the mix come next May despite the financial uncertainty surrounding the club which at present means they are unable to make any new signings.

  • Having just dropped out of the division I think it will be wide open next season. There is no stand-out team at this early stage with all the relegated sides having plenty to sort out before the big kick-off.
