After his on-off loan move to Coventry City was finally scrapped, Wolves striker Sam Vokes has opted to join Leeds United on a deal until the new year.

‘Sam is a highly-rated goalscorer,’ Elland Road boss Simon Grayson told his club’s official website.

The Sky Blues meanwhile have signed a striker of their own on Monday, landing Carlisle United youngster Gary Madine on loan, with a view to a permanent deal.

‘Gary is not the finished article but we believe there is the potential there for him to have a good future in the game,’ Chris Coleman told www.ccfc.co.uk.

Whereas Vokes would have come straight into contention for a first-team place, Madine is seen as one for the longer-term and Coleman confirmed that he is chasing at least one experience signing to cover for injuries.
