800+ Coventry City supporters will make the trip to Gigg Lane on Saturday still trying to digest the events of the past week.

At the time of writing (Thursday morning) it is still unclear who will be delivering the Sky Blues team-talk and directing operations from the sideline but it clearly will not be Mark Robins as his attention switches to a relegation fight in the Championship with Huddersfield Town.

That leaves City’s players to pick themselves up and aim to keep alive their play-off hopes by beating struggling Bury.

The Shakers lost 2-0 at home to Sheffield United on Tuesday night and defeat against his former club has reinforced manager Kevin Blackwell’s belief that he needs new signings.

‘We’re panning for gold here because we need to find someone who fits the bill, at this standard, is out of contract and will play for nothing,’ he said.

‘I need another centre-half and I need another midfield player. The search will not stop but we need to find the right players.’

The 2-2 draw between the two sides at the Ricoh Arena back in August spelled the end for Andy Thorn. Few would have thought that before this rematch that City would be looking for yet another new boss.

***Update*** No sooner written than changed – Lee Carsley has been confirmed as being in caretaker charge with Steve Ogrizovic assisting him.
