Lee Carsley has ended his association with Coventry City by becoming part of the backroom staff at Sheffield United under their new manager David Weir.
‘Lee is someone I trust immensely and his experience at this level will prove invaluable to us,’ said the Scot, appointed recently as Blades boss.
Carsley’s two spells as a player with City were both frustrating as he joined a struggling side in December 2000 just in time for the final few months of their Premiership life and was then unable to reach his former heights when made something of a marquee signing by Aidy Boothroyd in 2010.
He then worked in various coaching capacities at the Ricoh Arena, including development coach, first-team coach and interim manager for a short spell last season.
