Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy considered signing Dele Adebola from Coventry City before opting for former teammate Kevin Kyle.

“I looked at Dele, we considered him,’ McCarthy told the Express & Star.

“It`s all about the impact they can have, it`s not always that one individual`s ability.”

Mick it seems is not a fan of supporter’s websites, blaming the ‘nuggets who go on messageboards’ for some early murmurings about Kyle when he moved to Molineux.

“He came here almost with negative equity and has to start with a minus – it`s unbelievable and I find it incredible,’ he blasted.

“It`s great on Saturday that they`re shouting his name, but two games ago at Cardiff he`s getting it in his earhole.

“I just think ‘give him a chance to get going and he will have an impact for us`.

“I find the criticism of him difficult to take. I know it happens, all Coventry websites and people posting things up.

“I`ve never seen one, and have no intention of looking at one, but I get told.’

  • Fair play to Kyle for turning it around but fans remain entitled to their opinion whether on the web, in the pub or at the match. For many he was extremely poor at City and a loan signing from Cov was never going to excite the Wolves fans initially.

  • Poor old managers and players, what a hard time they have of it. If McCarthy gets sacked he gets a nice pay-off then straight back on the merry-go-round. Kyle keeps picking up his wages regardless and yet it is the fans who are to blame!
