Noel Whelan is currently without a club after having his contract at Boston United terminated in January, after admitting to an alcohol problem for which he underwent rehabilitation.

He has been on trial at Almondvale alongside Colin Healy, who also played for the Sky Blues on loan from Celtic in the latter part of the 2001/02 season.

Healy is looking to revive his career after two serious leg injuries, the first of which was sustained while playing for Sunderland, against City at Highfield Road in December 2003.

Livingston manager John Robertson confirmed: ‘We’d like to sign him (Whelan) as he’s a good player.

‘Noel seems to be keen to sign for us, but we have yet to agree terms with his agent and we’ll have to wait and see if he comes back to us.’
