Were City Good Enough To Go Up?

The question looks easy enough to answer at first. Of course the Sky Blues were not good enough to be promoted given their eventual points total (including the docked 10) in League One.

But did City have enough quality in their squad to have finished in the top two? After all they took maximum points from their four meetings with the sides who went up automatically, notching impressive wins away to Doncaster and Bournemouth and edging hard-fought games against them at the Ricoh Arena.

The 2012/13 season ended up as a series of ‘what if’ questions mainly regarding the departure of Mark Robins and the points deduction but the results against the top two show that the squad that remans at the club is more than good enough to compete.
