The transfer window opens in 17 days and Vital Coventry is bringing you a new rumour everyday concerning Sky Blues past and present or potential new signings.
15th December: Still only 33-years-old, Noel Whelan is back in competitive football after signing for non-league Harrogate Town, his first club since leaving Dunfermline Athletic in January 2007.
Harrogate Chairman Bill Fotherby said: ‘I’m highly-delighted Noel has joined the club. When he gets back to full match fitness he will be a real force to be reckoned with.
‘He has a presence and a skill and you can’t lose that. He will be a real asset for us.
‘And at 33, he still has a lot to offer football.
‘He will be practising his coaching skills here, but hopefully he will also do a lot more playing than watching.’
Whelan, a £2m signing from Leeds United in 1995, made 133 league appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring 31 goals.
