Andy Thorn believes Coventry City are ‘developing a strong base of homegrown talent’ after securing the signatures of Nathan Cameron and Danny Ireland to new contracts.

19-year-old central defender Cameron played far more than he could have expected last season and stood up well to the test of regular Championship football.

Credit for his emergence must also go to former manager Aidy Boothroyd, who sprung an opening day surprise when naming Cameron in his team for the game against Portsmouth.

He has signed a deal for two years with goalkeeper Ireland contracted until next summer and hoping to get his big chance with Keiren Westwood having departed.
