Thorn And City Reach Agreement

The Coventry Telegraph is reporting that the Sky Blues and former manager Andy Thorn have reached agreement on compensation following Thorn’s sacking three games into the current League One season.

It brings to an official end the 46-year-old’s association with the club where he was Chief Scout before taking over managerial duties following Aidy Boothroyd’s dismissal and plotting an exciting route away from relegation worries in his first ten games in charge.

The eventual low of leaving the Championship, punctuated by the odd unexpected high, marked his reign as permanent manager with the decision to part company so early in the new campaign dividing opinion among supporters.

City now stand or fall by Mark Robins but the frustrations he has already experienced while at the club together with the woeful results under caretaker boss Richard Shaw show that there was no magic wand available to turn around CCFC’s fortunes.

Thorn may or may not have been the man to eventually do that but, whatever he does next, it is to be hoped that he returns to the game in some capacity sooner rather than later.
