Coventry City’s Player of the Season vote for 2008/09 is a good indicator of the progress made by the Sky Blues this season, with a number of strong candidates to be named as the club’s top performer.

Kieren Westwood and Aron Gunnarsson are the clear leaders, both of them summer signings who have made themselves indispensable to the side.

Gunnarsson’s crowd favourite status, as well as his performances, makes him a contender, but for sheer consistency Westwood is likely to get the nod.

Westwood has earned countless points for City with his saves, and interest from the Premier League in his services is both inevitable and well-earned.

City have been far from a two-man team however.

Daniel Fox has continued his progress from last season, also adding another dimension to his game and his importance to the team with some excellent free-kick goals.

Clinton Morrison meanwhile has outshone Freddy Eastwood up front and returned a reasonable goals haul of 9 in the league at the time of writing.

Michael Doyle and Scott Dann also deserve a mention, both having made over 30 appearances, as does Leon Best for turning his season around.
