Stephen Hughes made his comeback from injury in Wednesday night’s 2-0 reserve team defeat by Southampton at Butlin Road, Rugby.

The City skipper has had an injury-hit season but came through the game with no problems, as did Richard Duffy and Stuart Giddings, the latter making a welcome re-appearance after being out for over a year.

Former City midfielder George Boateng is a target for AC Milan according to reports in Italy.

The Dutch international is out of contract at Middlesbrough at the end of the season and has yet to agree a new Riverside deal.

Don Hutchison, another played soon to be out of contract, has told his own icons website that he wants a new Sky Blues deal.

‘I’m really enjoying my football at Coventry City this season and I make no secret of the fact that I’d love to stay here next year,’ said the veteran midfielder.

‘This is a club that’s going places and I want to be part of it.

‘I know that I’m not a youngster any more but I feel as if I’ve proved that I can still do very well at this level since joining Coventry earlier this season. My form is good, and the results have been excellent too, so I’d like to think that I’ve done enough to extend my stay here.’

Meanwhile another former Coventry player, Laurent Delorge, will sign for ADO Den Haag of Holland in the summer when his Anderlecht contract expires.

The Belgian winger endured an injury-hit period with City prior to returning to his homeland.
