Coventry City remain at the Ricoh Arena in the absence of any further news about the rent dispute with the stadium owners.

Saturday’s home game against Preston North End is the last before the Boxing Day deadline imposed on the club but business seems to be going on as usual for matches after that date.

One of those, the JPT semi-final against the same opposition, should attract the Ricoh’s biggest gate of the season after the club decided to repeat the successful £5 ticket offer from the Sheffield United quarter-final. Tickets go on sale on Christmas Eve.

Adam Barton will be looking to show what he can do in those two games after leaving North End in the summer. The midfielder has blossomed in recent weeks after initially struggling to find a role under Mark Robins.

‘Interesting’

‘I made most of my Football League appearances at Preston so it would be a great game for me to play in,’ he said, quoted in the Lancashire Evening Post ahead of the weekend.

‘It will be interesting to see how their fans react – my friends who are coming down who are all Preston fans and it would be good to get a goal against them.’

The choice between Barton and available-again skipper Carl Baker is Robins’ main selection issue for the game. The manager still has his star loan men, David McGoldrick, James Bailey and Blair Adams at his disposal and is in talks over a new contract for Franck Moussa.

Unsurprisingly, City will take a full allocation of fans to White Hart Lane for the FA Cup 3rd Round against Tottenham Hotspur.
