Sky Blues Approach Halfway Mark

Coventry City’s home game against Preston North End on Saturday marks the halfway point of a season that, unusually for the Sky Blues, is improving with each passing game, highlighted by the superb 4-1 away win against previous joint-leaders Doncaster Rovers at the weekend.

11 points off an automatic promotion place and 7 outside the play-offs, the Sky Blues still lie in the bottom half of League One and their 30 point haul from 22 games, repeated over the course of a whole season, would give a final total of 62/63 points.

‘Carry On Climbing’

This season, however, can be divided into BMR and AMR (after Mark Robins) and repeating the points gained just from Robins’ time in charge (27 from 15) would put his side on course for 73 points, enough last season to squeeze into a play-off place.

2011/12 though may have been slightly unusual in that three very good sides, Charlton, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, dominated proceedings. This season seems much more open and a continuation of City’s recent form will put them firmly in the mix.

‘Fans are there to dream – that’s what they do,’ said Robins after the win in South Yorkshire. ‘And after a performance like that, why not?’
