The Sky Blues notched up the first part of what would be a double over Birmingham City with a 1-0 win in front of the Sky cameras at St Andrew’s on a cold Monday night in November.

Clinton Morrison did the damage against his former side with a second-half header from close range before Kieren Westwood and the Sky Blues defence took centre-stage with a manful rearguard action.

Westwood was beaten according to the cameras from a late Blues corner, the ball looking as though it had crossed the line. The officials however erred on the side of caution and Coventry escaped.

“It`s difficult to judge,’ said home boss Alex McLeish afterwards.

‘Like everyone else, I claimed it when my players were throwing their arms up.

‘But I looked to the assistant and saw he had an obscured view and the referee didn`t have a clear view, either.

‘If they`ve not seen it cross the line, they can`t make it up. We take it on the chin and get on with the next game.”
