After an encouraging few days in which Coventry City fought back from two goals down to draw with Middlesbrough and then took three points home from the game at Watford, the Sky Blues are in a healthy position in the Championship table with ten matches played.

A large contingent of visiting fans, a local derby and some good home form should all conspire to make Saturday’s attendance against Leicester the biggest of the season and chairman Ray Ranson has been spelling out the consequences of the current low gates.

‘We know at the club that we have a lot to prove,’ he told the Coventry Telegraph.

‘But we cannot do it without support.

‘People have been desperate for us to bring new players in, but we have been faced with falling gates at a time when similar-sized clubs in the Midlands have seen their attendances rising.’

As the chairman himself has admitted, it is results that will ultimately bring the crowds in and he has also said that if City remain in and around the play-off places come January, that the club will have a ‘real go’ at promotion.
