After being lured away from Watford in the summer to take over from Steve Coppell as Reading boss, Brendan Rodgers is facing up to the first ‘crisis’ of his time as a manager.

The Royals are in the relegation zone after some disappointing results, none more so than the recent 4-1 hammering at Queens Park Rangers which angered the visiting fans enough to see some calls for Rodgers to go.

Reading bounced back performance-wise against Leicester City on Monday but still ended up with no points to show for it.

Speaking to the local Reading Chronicle newspaper, director of football Nicky Hammond said this week: ‘We are where we are and we all know results have to improve.’

Former Sky Blues star Jay Tabb could line up as a right-back on Saturday, having filled in in defence in recent weeks.

He told the official Reading FC website: ‘We know if we can get one win it’ll really kickstart our season.’
