Pondering An Appeal

Coventry’s point deduction, following part of the club going into administration last week, could still be contested.

As a result of this the Football League imposed a ten-point penalty on Coventry, this ended their play off hopes.

However, as he told The Coventry Telegraph, development director Steve Waggott has confirmed that “legal advice” is being sought with an appeal before tomorrows deadline to do so is still possible: ‘We’re in the process of taking legal advice about the next steps.

‘We’ve got to manage expectations. We would only go ahead if we thought we had a realistic chance of winning and I think it’s fair to say that the chances of overturning the decision are thin because it’s never been done before.

‘But this is not your normal sort of administration and there are several aspects to our case which we feel could be worth pursuing.’

Previous tends to suggest that such an appeal wouldn’t be successful but The Sky Blues haven’t really got a lot to lose by appealing, and despite being an outside bet could well have a lot to gain!
