Sheffield Wednesday come to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday full of confidence for their game against a Coventry City side that have lost three games on the bounce.

The Owls, already on the up before the appointment of new boss Brian Laws, won 2-0 at Ipswich last weekend in his first game in charge.

A reserve side full of fringe players then staked their claim with a 5-0 win against Bradford City in midweek.

Laws said after that game: ‘That was as good a game that I’ve seen in my managerial career.

‘It was magnificent football, the best I’ve seen for a long, long time. I was standing up applauding some of the goals; they were sensational.

‘I told the players ‘those performances are a major knock on my door to tell me you are ready when asked.’

‘Actions speak louder than words. They spoke very loudly.

‘It gives the players who are in the side a tap on the shoulder and tells them that others are after their places. It creates great competition.’
