After the welcome break to London and the Emirates Stadium, an escape from their struggles in League One despite the six goals conceded to Arsenal, Coventry City returned to the more pressing matter of getting their first league victory of the season when they met Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park on Saturday.

Manager Mark Robins first week in charge of the club saw him make four new signings, giving him plenty of selection options as he prepared to meet up with another diminutive striker-turned-manager in need of a win in the shape of the Latics’ Paul Dickov.

And it was Robins, in dramatic fashion, who was celebrating at the end as substitute Cody McDonald scored in the final minute of normal time to hand the Sky Blues all three points.

In contrast to the 8,000+ City fans who travelled to Arsenal in midweek there were around 600 at Boundary Park but their journey home will be a happy one.
