Police are investigating an incident at the end of the Sheffield United versus Oldham Athletic match at the weekend involving Latics man Lee Croft and a Blades ballboy.

Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton, linked with the Sky Blues before Mark Robins took the job, is being mentioned as a possible contender for both the Burnley and Bolton jobs as uncertainty continues to surround the Fratton Park club.

Defender Reuben Hazell has had his Shrewsbury Town contract cancelled by mutual consent. Hazell missed much of the club’s promotion campaign last season due to a serious injury.

‘The club would like to thank him for all his work during his time here and wish him well for the future,’ read a statement on the official Shrews website.

Swindon Town’s 2-2 draw with Coventry City at the weekend was their last game with Jeremy Wray as chairman.

Sir William Patey has been chosen as a replacement with manager Paulo Di Canio paying tribute to the outgoing man.

‘The chairman is the best chairman a manager can have,’ he told BBC Sport. ‘We have achieved what we have achieved thanks to the way he supported me in the beginning when there was some friction with the players.’
