Richard Keogh is on the verge of leaving Coventry City as he enters the final year of his contract and no with no sign of him signing a new deal at the Ricoh Arena.

Cardiff City, Leeds United and now Derby County are the front-runners to sign the central defender after his excellent season with the Sky Blues despite their relegation to League One.

As with last summer City are set to lose a key player but the big difference this time around is that they are also in the market for replacements.

Having immediately offered a deal to Kevin Malaga following his trial spell with the club, Andy Thorn is weighing up an offer to a second French centre-half, William Edjenguele.

‘He`s out of contract and he`s a good lad who had done well in training with us,’ Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph.

‘He`s strong, got a lovely left foot and a bit of experience, and he`s the right age as well. So hopefully he`s one of two or three over the next couple of weeks.’

As for Keogh it would be nice to think his ‘love’ for the club would extend to trying to get back it back into the Championship but players in the final year of their contracts and with interest assured from elsewhere hold all the aces in football as Robin Van Persie has recently proved.
