Steven Pressley pulled no punches after Coventry City’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Notts County on Saturday afternoon, the manner of the reverse being so unlike the Sky Blues this season as they failed to gain any kind of foothold in the game and struggled to establish their usual high tempo.

That it should come on the back of a good win at Bristol City and with more competition for places in the squad than at any time to date in 2013/14 makes it even more of a head-scratcher.

Speaking to the official club website he said: ‘It isn’t often I say this about my own team but they looked hungrier than us.

‘I always talk about the intensity of our game and today, especially in the first half, it wasn’t good enough.’

In the relegation zone before the match, Notts County belied that status with what their manager Shaun Derry hailed as their best performance of his short time at the club.

‘I felt we didn`t play with pressure on us and all of the work we did in the week we transferred into the matchday,’ he told the official NCFC website.

‘That really makes me happy seeing that because it`s pointless doing your work in the week if you can`t do it on a Saturday.’

A feature of the Sky Blues season to date has been their ability to bounce back well from bad results with Bradford City the visitors to Sixfields next Saturday afternoon.
