Wednesday’s Mirror claims that former Coventry City defender Calum Davenport will be allowed to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 23-year-old has made only five senior appearances for Spurs since his move from City in August 2004 and has been loaned out on three occasions.

Davenport was linked with a move back to Coventry at the end of the season although he will be keen to remain in the Premiership and Spurs will be looking to recoup a fair chunk of the fee they paid for the England under-21 international.

  • What fee to be recouped? The vast majority of the fee paid by Spurs was on appearances – 5 outings didn’t make Coventry so rich.

  • Spurs paid £1.1m upfront, the rest was dependent on various clauses. The bank basically told City they had to sell a player before the transfer deadline and Davenport was the most saleable

  • the mirror is about as truth telling as pinoccio. what next a pic of the editor made to look like him dressed in a coventry shirt? he wont go he played ok at the end of season and is young.

  • Wish you actually made SENSE, mr commonsence. Could you explain what you mean in english please?
