‘This is the best win since I have been here,’ was Chris Coleman’s after-match verdict after seeing his Coventry City side win 1-0 at high-flying Birmingham City on Monday night.

The Sky Blues produced a textbook away performance, full of stout defending and menace on the break to secure a crucial win.

‘Birmingham are a very strong side with very good players and that is why they are up at the top of the table but the longer it went on, the more confident we became,’ Coleman added.

‘They slowly got more frustrated and then the crowd started to turn which is just what we wanted.

‘In fact we really should have scored a second when Jay Tabb put it over the bar but to come here with any hope you have to have all 11 players up for the game.

‘No-one was missing tonight and it showed.’

Blues fought back strongly after the opening goal but were denied by visiting keeper Kieren Westwood.

‘I have not seen many better goalkeeping performances,’ was Coleman’s assessment.

‘I was lucky enough at Fulham to have Edwin Van der Saar playing for me and he put in some superb displays but this one by Keiren is as good as I have seen.’

As an aide, the man from The Mirror may have been at a different game to this one. Lee West’s after-match ratings handed Westwood a paltry 5 out of 10!
