Coventry City were linked by Sunday’s newspapers with a summer move to sign Jermaine Beckford and the Leeds United hotshot, through his agent, has fuelled the transfer talk on Monday.

Quoted in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Nick Rubery said: ‘He’s got a year left on his contract and he needs to know where he stands.

‘I don’t know what Leeds are thinking with regards to their future plans and what part he might play in them, but it’s something I need to clarify.’

25-year-old Beckford netted 34 goals in the season just ended but his failure to deliver in the play-off semi-final against Millwall has seen him come under some fire from Leeds fans.
