The fixture schedules have not been the kindest to Coventry City supporters over the festive period but 500+ are preparing to make the trip to Carlisle on Saturday for the final match of 2017.

The year has encompassed relegation, litigation, frustration and a brief window of celebration at Wembley in March when a Sky Blues side containing a number of home-grown players lifted the Football League Trophy in fine style.

Now, the focus, for 2018 is two-fold as Mark Robins’ side chases promotion on the pitch and fans await confirmation of where the club will be playing their football next season.

An announcement on that is ‘imminent’ according to reports over Christmas and although it will do little to soften opinion towards the owners it will hopefully (if it is a deal to remain at the Ricoh long-term) be a very small first step towards better times ahead.

If you are not travelling to Cumbria then there is a big local derby on the Non-League scene as Coventry Sphinx host Coventry United in the Midland Football League.
