Andy Thorn was left beaming following his Coventry City side’s 2-0 win at Hull on Saturday, their first victory on the road all season and one that vindicated the manager’s belief in his players.

‘We put in the endeavour and work again today,’ he said, qualities that the Sky Blues have shown all through the campaign and which are now being added to with a genuine threat going forward.

‘We’ve stuck at it and got some real momentum going now, and we’ll try to remain unbeaten until the end of the season.

‘It was a really mature and very professional performance against a good team.’

‘I thought it was a ‘growing-up’ performance’. It was a really solid display and it was a superb day for us.

Opposite number Nick Barmby watched his side suffer a fourth defeat in a row but was in defiant mood after the game.

“I’m proud of the players for their attitude and commitment and the way we went about things in the second half,” he said.

“We’re in a bit of a rut at the moment, but if we show that sort of attitude we’ll get out of it, no doubt about that.

“It is about having the right attitude and wanting to get on the ball. As long as we stick together we’re not bothered about what other people say.”
