The future of a number of managers in the Championship is up for discussion at present with Reading looking to replace Steve Coppell at the helm.

Preston North End boss Alan Irvine is a candidate to take the Madejski Stadium job although no approach has yet been made, with Brendan Rodgers of Watford also mentioned as a possible.

Two managers staying in their posts in South Yorkshire are Simon Davey of Barnsley and Sheffield United’s Kevin Blackwell.

Both men’s position had come under scrutiny after a narrow escape from relegation and defeat in the play-offs respectively.

Roberto Martinez of Swansea meanwhile will be wanted by Wigan if they lose Steve Bruce to Sunderland.
