Sunday’s East Anglian derby victory against Norwich City has come too late to save Ipswich boss Jim Magilton, sacked on Wednesday after failing to steer his side into the play-offs.
Ipswich, who face Coventry City on the final day of the season, hope to have a new manager in place by then, with Alan Pardew, Glenn Hoddle and Alan Curbishley early front-runners and Roy Keane also mentioned as a candidate.
