Coventry City launched a spirited second half comeback but came up just short at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday as Leeds United took the three points.

In a Championship fixture played more in the manner of a cup tie it was the visitors who made all the running in the opening 45 minutes and deservedly went in at the break leading 2-0.

A big crowd however were kept interested right until the end as the Sky Blues twice got themselves back into the game and gave their all in an attempt to gain an unlikely point.

“In the first half there was no doubt who was the better team,” admitted Aidy Boothroyd afterwards. “You can’t give yourself the uphill battle we gave ourselves. It has to be used as a lesson that when you are successful for a period of the season, you don’t rest on your laurels.

“Their goals were poor goals. It was us that allowed the opposition to score. Snodgrass’ was a good finish but I could probably score if you let me run through.”
