Refreshed from his holiday, Aidy Boothroyd is behind his desk and ready to begin the mammoth task of making Coventry City a Championship force over the next couple of seasons.

Having cleared the decks by releasing the club’s out of contract players, the new manager has the scope to make the signings he needs to bring some power and pace to the squad he inherited from Chris Coleman.

Chairman Ray Ranson has made the future of star man Keiren Westwood his main focus, looking to either tie the goalkeeper down to an extended contract or maximise the transfer fee paid for him this summer.

‘There is interest in him and rightly so,’ said Ranson, quoted in the Coventry Telegraph.

‘He’s an international goalkeeper now and he’s the best goalkeeper outside the Premier League – and he’s only getting better.’
