A Sense Of Normality (In A Sense)

The wheels of a season in the Football League are slowly beginning to turn with the first rituals taking place this week as the League Cup draw is made and the fixtures for 2013/14 are released.

Other markers that normally signpost the campaign ahead have, of course, been noticeably absent for Coventry City supporters so far this summer.

Without a confirmed ground there have been no season ticket sales. A transfer embargo has stifled the gossip and rumour that are a pre-season staple. City’s situation has even prevented the launch of a new kit.

Despite fading hopes that a change of ownership can be forced, the situation as it stands is that the Sky Blues will remain under the control of SISU and be playing outside of Coventry for the foreseeable future.

The administrator’s decision last Friday is likely to see the transfer embargo end soon and allow details to be released of where City will be playing their ‘home ‘ games and how much it will cost to see them.

So, normality in one sense but huge uncertainty and anger remain.
