Wales go into their next World Cup qualifier in Germany on Wednesday night knowing that they will have to get past either the might of Joachim Low’s squad or Guus Hiddink’s Russia if they are to make it to South Africa in 2010.

Manager John Toshack has overseen the introduction of a host of talented youngsters to the Welsh squad but may decide to end his own time in charge next year if qualification is not achieved.

The FAW are fully-behind the vastly experienced Toshack, with a source telling www.sportinglife.com: ‘There is no appetite for a change of management.

‘If Tosh were to ask for another two years to take us up to the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine, he would almost certainly get it.’

Approaching 60 however, the former Real Madrid coach may decide to call it a day in management, leaving Wales to cast around for a successor.

Coventry City boss Chris Coleman is bound to be one of the names in the frame although a move into international management is likely to be something that happens later rather than sooner in his career.
