Will Thursday’s news that Franck Moussa has been released by Walsall trigger interest from Coventry City manager Mark Robins?

The Belgian midfielder was handed a short-term deal by Robins when he began his first stint as Sky Blues boss, making his debut in a League Cup tie at Arsenal and going on to become part of an exciting attacking unit alongside the likes of David McGoldrick, Carl Baker and Gary McSheffrey.

Moussa signed a longer contract in January 2013 and he was quoted on the BBC website at the time in praise of his manager.

‘He tries to get the best out of the players and out of the team and he makes it a decent environment to work in.’

Speaking on his decision to release Moussa, Walsall boss Mike Whitney told his club’s official website that ‘things haven’t worked out quite as we hoped this season. We thank him for his contribution and wish him all the best.’
