Will January come too late for Coventry City?

‘I would love to make changes and I need to make changes to make us stronger – the sooner the better.

‘So roll on January when hopefully I can bring a few in.”

The words of Coventry City manager Andy Thorn after the weekend defeat by Portsmouth left his side seven points adrift of safety in the Championship and rock bottom of the division.

As Ken Dulieu becomes the latest member of the Sky Blues soap opera to air his justification for events in the press, the on-field woes get worse, especially for those long-suffering supporters who follow City away from home.

‘sidelines’

Thorn carries an increasingly beleaguered air and who can blame him when he stands on the sidelines and watches the Keystone Kops defending produced by his side at Fratton Park on Saturday.

In public he is finally saying the things he may have been saying in private all season long but with four more games to come before the January window opens (taking City past the halfway mark) and no guarantee that more players will be coming in than going out in the new year it may already be too late.
