Who’s for the City exit door?

As a deal for Marlon King inches ever closer, Aidy Boothroyd has also suggested that some players will be leaving the Ricoh Arena ahead of the transfer deadline at the end of August.

Boothroyd has kept a fairly settled side for the first three league games of the season and that has meant some experienced players have been left kicking their heels on the sidelines.

Sammy Clingan, Richard Wood, James McPake, Carl Baker and Michael McIndoe have been confined to the bench or worse so far and with no regular reserve team football at the club and a number of younger players looking to follow Nathan Cameron’s lead, City will find it hard to keep all of their squad members happy over the coming months.

Both home games so far have highlighted how deep the options open to Boothroyd actually are, with a number of the above named players available as substitutes while neither Portsmouth or Derby have been able or willing to name a full bench.
