Derby County’s offer for Coventry City defender Richard Keogh is believed to involve cash plus a player moving to the Ricoh Arena on a long-term deal with a view to a permanent move.

With the Sky Blues now well-stocked at the back it is likely to be a midfielder or striker who is on his way to CV6.

The Rams have said they will listen to offers for midfielder James Bailey this summer as he enters the final year of his contract so could he be the man in question?

Manager Nigel Clough remains a fan of the player but told his club’s official website in May: ‘He hasn’t done anything wrong it’s just that he’s going to find it very hard to break up the Bryson-Hendrick midfield pairing we have.’

Derby fans – is this a likely scenario or is there someone else at Pride Park (with first-team experience according to the Coventry Telegraph) who could be part of the Keogh deal?

***Update***The deal was confirmed on Thursday afternoon but it is 19-year-old forward Callum Ball, scorer of the winning goal against the Sky Blues at Pride Park in January, who joins the Sky Blues on a season-long loan while Keogh has made a £1m move from West to East Midlands.

Manager Andy Thorn told the Coventry Telegraph: ‘I`ve liked Callum for some time so I am really pleased we`ve been able to get him here

‘It`s been done separately to the Richard Keogh deal but while the two clubs were talking we asked about Callum and it`s fantastic that we`ve been able to get this done.’
