Where To Strengthen As City Eye Signings?

With Mark Robins aiming to make some moves in the transfer market ahead of the loan deadline, where do Vital Coventry readers feel the Sky Blues are lacking at present?

Robins told the Coventry Telegraph that swap deals may be the best bet in his bid to bring in new faces, saying: ‘We have got a number of players here who need to play so we have to see if we can move one or two out and bring one or two in.’

With City still hovering just above the League One drop zone there would seem to be plenty of areas for the manager to deal in.

Goalkeeper: Joe Murphy has never quite convinced Sky Blues’ supporters (spoiled perhaps by previously having Kieren Westwood at the club) but it is hard to pinpoint too many goals he has been at fault for this season. Chris Dunn is the perennial replacement but has not even been handed a chance in one of the cup competitions.

Defence: Richard Wood topped the previous Vital Coventry poll for the best contracted City player so far this season but has had a number of different central defensive partnerships. On the flanks, left-back remains a problem area with loan signing Jamie Reckord not quite having made the position his own.

Midfield: Has looked stronger in recent games with the combative duo of Jennings and Bailey lining up alongside Carl Baker and John Fleck. The absence through injury of on-loan Arsenal man Conor Henderson has been a blow.

Attack: David McGoldrick‘s contribution is clear for all to see while Calum Ball and Roy O’Donovan have given their all when called up. Gary McSheffrey’s poor form and Cody McDonald’s struggle for match fitness have deprived City of another threat to opposing defenders.

Have your say now on where City need to strengthen. The Vital Poll is up and running on the right-hand side of the page.
