On the day that the new boss of the Ricoh Arena has been outlining his plans for the future, another football fixture has been lined up for Coventry City’s old home.

After Leicester City’s successful use of the venue for two recent Under-21 games, West Bromwich Albion will host local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in CV6 on Monday evening.

Chris Robinson, recently appointed as the chairman of ACL, told the Coventry Telegraph that the venue is stepping up activity in terms of stadium use in the absence of former anchor tenant CCFC.

‘There’s the opportunity for concerts, boxing, rugby sevens, other rugby matches – there`s lots of different opportunities and we won`t pass up on any of those that come along.

‘It’s not being used as intended with a full time professional football club, but there are uses. It has been used four or five times in the past month.’
