Coventry City’s 2-0 win at Old Trafford on Wednesday night has led to a host of articles on whether Manchester United’s youngsters are up to scratch.
£17m Brazilian signing Anderson in particular was a big disappointment in midweek and according to reports on Friday is set for a lengthy spell in the reserves.
Former United player Lou Macari however, speaking to Talk Sport on Thursday, suggested that reserve team football was no longer a good breeding ground for youngsters as second-string teams rarely have the blend of youth and experience they used to and that many of United’s starlets had no match for the physical presence of a Championship side.
The solution? Loan Anderson to the Sky Blues for the rest of the season (and pay his wages as we’ll be doing Sir Alex a favour) and we’ll send back a toughened up, more streetwise player.
Cheers!
