There were sharply contrasting reactions from the two managers after Coventry City defeated Sheffield United at Sixfields on Saturday afternoon to record their first league win of the 2014/15 season.

The Sky Blues grew in confidence throughout the game, creating a number of chances after the break while also looking more solid at the back than in the opening two fixtures of the campaign and breaking the deadlock with a goal credited to United defender Bob Harris but claimed by Jim O’Brien.

‘It’s a game we may not have won last year, against a team that will absolutely be there or thereabouts this season,’ said Steven Pressley afterwards.

‘We’ve improved from last season and it’s an excellent way to get our first win.’

The result leaves the Blades without a point from their two matches to date and Nigel Clough bemoaned a ‘lack of energy’ from the visiting side.

‘Everyone thought we’d be up there, and we didn’t think we were as far ahead as maybe other people did.’
