Wanted: Goalscorers

Iain Dowie has made it clear that he needs to boost Coventry City’s goal tally next season if they are to mount a promotion push.

He told the Coventry Telegraph: ‘We don’t score enough, especially away from home.

‘We clearly need a goalscorer.’

Two early names in the frame, based on nothing more than putting two and two together to make five could be Chris Killen of Hibernian and Daniel Nardiello of Barnsley.

New Zealand international Killen, who played under Dowie at Oldham, will be a free agent in the summer after turning down a new deal with Hibs.

He had netted 15 times this season before an achilles injury in January and has already been linked with Cardiff, Leeds and Genoa.

Sky Blues fan Nardiello is waiting on a new contract at Barnsley, for whom he has scored six times in his last four games.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield: ‘There is nothing on the table at the moment but I am ready to talk about a new deal.

‘I’m playing good football and scoring goals. If the club were not to offer me a contract I’m confident I’d find another club but I want to stay.’

Anyone else who you think could be a possible summer signing? Have you seen Fernando Torres in Tesco’s at Arena Park? Is Luca Toni a lifelong City fan?
