Vital View: City wary of Schmeichel delay

Manchester City’s post-season tour of Thailand and the current confusion over manager Sven Goran Eriksson will delay any move to Coventry City for goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

While the signing of the Dane would be a sign of the Sky Blues’ ambitions for next season and beyond, these kind of deals can drag on.

Former loan star Marton Fulop is a case in point, with City playing the waiting game for the Hungarian and then eventually having to look elsewhere.

Sheffield Wednesday suffered a similar fate with Scott Carson a couple of seasons back so hopefully Schmeichel will be signed, sealed and delivered before the players report back for pre-season training.
