This week in June 2010, Vital Coventry reported on the start of the Aidy Boothroyd era at Coventry City.

In what now looks like a different era for the Sky Blues we commented that the new man in charge would benefit from the club continuing the transfer policy that had been put in place under Ray Ranson’s chairmanship.

Chris Coleman had been backed in the transfer market and Boothroyd was too as the likes of Gary McSheffrey, Lee Carsley and Lukas Jutkiewicz arrived over the summer.

Just one year later and Ranson’s departure left a gaping hole at the head of the club which Ken Dulieu tried, badly, to fill. That left Andy Thorn fighting a losing battle as his best players were not replaced and the downward spiral of CCFC took another twist.
